Wild Weavers offers a full range of agility  classes, as well as  puppy kindergarten classes.  We offer classes four nights per week (Monday through Thursday), classes are one hour sessions, and  run for seven weeks. We also offer afternoon classes and private instruction, as well as some specialty classes (distance work, Junior Handlers,etc.) Below is our current class schedule.  Next session (SESSION 2, 2010) begins  March 1st.  Registration forms  for members and  current students will be available from our Yahoo group e-mail list the week of January 25th, or it can be downloaded from this page after Feb. 1st:  CLASS_REGISTRATION_March_2010.pdf

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

BEGINNERS: combines basic obedience commands of sit, down, come, stay and walking on leash with basic agility obstacles of tunnel, chute, A-frame, dogwalk, jump, table, weave poles, and tire. Dogs will work on leash.

ADVANCED BEGINNERS: basic agility obstacles will be expanded working up to the full heights of obstacles and gradual increase in jump heights. The teeter totter and double jump will be introduced. Obstacle and handler focus will be introduced, and handling will be emphasized, including change of sides, post turns, and lead outs. Dogs will work on leash or with tabs and progress to off leash work.

INTERMEDIATE: Sequencing of obstacles increase as well as agility handling off leash. Handlers will learn to master change of sides through: front crosses, rear crosses, tandem turns, and  lead outs. The triple jump will be introduced, and weave poles emphasized. It is suggested that all handlers have weave poles at home to practice.

ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE:  Handling skills are emphasized.  All dogs should be able to do a 12 weave pole set without wires/channels. Dogs should be competent on all obstacles. Obstacle sequences and difficulty will increase.

NOVICE COMPETITION: This class is for dogs and handlers that are competent at all the obstacles, including weave poles. Longer sequences and sets will be run. Handlers will learn courses strategy and analysis. Emphasis will be on handling skills. This class is recommended for dogs and handlers getting ready to enter agility competitions.

COMPETITION: This class is for dogs and handlers exhibiting or training above the novice level of competition. Handling, strategy, and course analysis are major components of this class. Class contents will vary every session.

BEGINNING RALLY : In the beginning rally class we will teach the dogs attention, heeling, sit, down, stay, and recall.  We will practice all the APDT Level 1 exercise signs.  The APDT rules and regulations will be explained.  A shortened course will be run in each class preparing the teams for competition.

 ADVANCED RALLY: In the advanced rally class we will work on polishing performances, and learn all the APDT Level 2 and Level 3 exercise signs, including drop on recall, and retrieve.  We will explain the requirements for the various APDT Championships.  More info available at the website  www.apdt.com/

 PUPPY KINDERGARTEN: This class is for puppies under 20 weeks of age. Basic obedience commands such as sit, down, stay, and come will be taught. Puppies will learn to walk on leash without pulling. Agility equipment will be used to teach the puppies confidence but will be limited to tunnels, chutes, A-frame, table and ramps. Puppies will socialize and interact with other puppies and handlers.
